Dream Evil - In The Night

What does everyone think of the new Dream Evil disc? I like it a lot but it's not as immediate and catchy as some past albums. I think the thing that bothers me most is that their lyrics border on parody more and more. Almost as if they are mocking the metal scene (like Steel Panther).

That's not cool with me at all. This makes me want to think twice about whether I really wanna buy this new album or not. Thanks, Trav!

I do think they do some of this as light parody. Even their names on this one are silly like Nick Night, Richie Rainbow, Pat Power, Danee Demon, and Pete Pain. But, it's not nearly as bad as Steel Panther but it still gets a little annoying when they do it. The title track of "BOHM" was a bit tongue in cheek as well so it's nothing new. This is still a good solid metal platter. I think Dream Evil takes their music seriously. They just like to have some fun with it.

Ok, after listening to this a couple more times today I am liking it a lot more and the hooks are becoming more obvious. It arrived at the same time as the new discs from Brainstorm, At Vance and Iron Fire so it kinda got buried amongst the other new metal. I will say I like all three of those better though.

Iron Fire?!!?! My eyes just popped out of my head!!!
